The October is Arts Month event, is an opportunity for Northumberland County to not only highlight, but also promote arts, culture and heritage through a series of activities. These can be as simple as: - holding an open house or open studio for a few hours

- providing demonstrations to school groups
- guided tours of heritage communities
- hold a workshop
- public performances from professionals,
- public performances from amateurs such as schools and churches
Cultural Heritage Day In Brighton - October 1 - The Municipality Heritage Advisory Committee presents a celebration of the collective cultural heritage of Brighton Saturday October 1st, 2011.
It is a commemoration of Brighton's 160th Centennial which is recognition of the creation of the Town of Brighton and the Township of Brighton in 1851, as well as the 10th anniversary of the amalgamation of the two creating the Municipality of Brighton, January 1, 2001.
There will be several daytime activities, notably guided walks in town and tours of rural areas. Meet at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Main Street.
At 7:00 p.m. 'designated' Heritage Properties will be presented with plaques at the Masonic Hall 153 Main Street. The owners of the properties who are listed on the Municipality Register of Properties of Heritage Value or Interest will receive certificates.

Leah is an experienced photographer and workshop leader, known for her ability to demystify complex subjects. She has exhibited her work throughout the region, and has led photography workshops for Presqu'ile Park in Brighton on everything from sunrise shooting to campfire photography. She has offered workshops on traditional and digital dark room techniques, travel photography and product photography for the internet. She has also taught courses on home computers and the Internet.
